2 injured, 8 apartment units destroyed in overnight fire: JFRD

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A fire Tuesday night at the Patriot Plaza Apartments on University Club Boulevard off Fort Caroline Road left eight units destroyed and two people injured, the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department said.

JFRD spokesman Capt. Eric Prosswimmer said the two people who were injured were taken to a hospital. Their injuries were not life-threatening.

The roof of the apartment building was destroyed. JFRD video captured the aftermath.

Video from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department shows the devastation at an apartment complex after an overnight fire destroyed eight units.

Twelve adults lost their homes and are being helped by the Red Cross.

Investigators will work to learn the cause of the fire.
