
CLEVELAND — A 3.0 magnitude earthquake was recorded Saturday morning near the Mahoning County community of Maple Ridge, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The earthquake happened two kilometers south of Maple Ridge at 4:42 a.m. and was recorded at a depth of 5.9 kilometers.
A quake of that magnitude is considered a minor event. According to the USGS Community Internet Intensity map, community members reported the earthquake had an intensity level that is typically associated with weak shaking and no damage.
Community members reported feeling the quake mainly in Maple Ridge and surrounding areas including Sebring and Alliance, but responses indicated minor shakes could also be felt in other areas Columbiana County and Stark County as well as the Akron area.
