70 dogs, cats removed during mass animal surrender at Middleburg home

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. – The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a mass animal surrender in Middleburg.

Officials said this comes after the owners handed over 70 dogs, puppies and cats to the county.

The animals are being removed from the Middleburg home and will be transported to Omega Park for evaluation. They will then be brought to the fairgrounds for processing.

The owners are not facing any charges.

This isn’t the first animal hoarding case Clay County has seen. In 2021, more than 200 animals living in deplorable conditions were rescued from a property on Old Jennings Road.
