JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — Police are responding to active shooter in Jacksonville Beach that has resulted in two people taken to the hospital, according to responding agencies.
Jacksonville Beach Police Department spokeswoman Tonya Tator urged residents to stay away from the scene and described the incident around 8:30 p.m. as an “active shooter event.”
The Jacksonville Beach Police Department said Sunday it is securing the scene. Cameras showed a heavy police presence near the 2nd Avenue beach access and 1st Street.
The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department said two people were taken to the hospital. One person is in serious condition and one person’s injuries are non life-threatening, the agency said.
