YULEE, Fla. — A police investigation is underway after an armed robbery took place at a Burger King in Yulee Wednesday afternoon, according to the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office says at approximately 12:27 p.m., an officer responded to the Burger King, located at 462581 State Road 200, to investigate the robbery. Upon arrival, the officer in the incident report states that they observed an armored truck parked on the east side of the restaurant.
Next, the report states that the officer and another deputy approached the truck and made contact with the victim who’s an unknown man; he was the driver and only occupant of the truck.
The man told police that he arrived at Burger King at approximately 12:25 p.m. and parked the truck beside the east door of the restaurant, the report states. After doing so, the man exited the truck, walked inside the restaurant, was inside for approximately 10 minutes and then exited the restaurant out of the eastside door and approached his truck, according to the report.
As the man walked around the back of his truck, the partially redacted report states that he observed someone back into a parking space nearby in which “was not parked there when he arrived.”
The report reveals that the man ran after an undetermined amount of time and then eventually entered through the right-side door of the truck when it became “secured.” Once inside the truck, the man observed the suspect vehicle exit the parking lot and travel eastbound on SR 200, the report states. The man further told police in the report that this was his normal route and he did not observe any other vehicle following him during the course of the day as well as contacted his employer and advised them of the situation.
