Sean Carpenter, 36, is being held in the Putnam County Jail on four counts of lewd and lascivious molestation of a victim less than 12 years old.
PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — A firefighter who works for Clay County Fire Rescue was arrested while at work Friday, according to police.
Sean Evert Carpenter, 36, from Palatka, was arrested by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office on four counts of molestation of a victim less than 12 years old.
PCSO says on Oct. 16, a child victim told their parents about repeated molestation by Carpenter. The victim is not a family member.
“This piece of trash is a disgrace to not only his employers but also to anyone in public service who proudly sacrifice their lives to help others,” Sheriff H.D ‘Gator’ DeLoach said. “He took full advantage of his position as a trusted first responder to defile a child’s innocence. He is an embarrassment to all of our fellow brothers and sisters in the fire service and we share in their disgust and disappointment for the shame he has brought down. We will hand this case to the state attorney’s office and we will work diligently to ensure he never sees freedom again.”
Carpenter is being held without bond.
First Coast News has reached out to Clay County Fire Rescue about Carpenter’s employment status. We have not yet heard back.
