JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The family of a 22-year-old Edward Waters University (EWU) student is concerned about her whereabouts after reporting her missing on Monday to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
They are hoping the community can help provide answers. In a flyer circulating on social media, Auriyah “Moonchild Auri” Stewart was last seen Saturday, Oct. 7 at EWU.
Her mother, Dawn Stewart, told News4JAX that she spoke to her daughter on a Facetime call on Saturday when Stewart went to celebrate EWU’s homecoming festivities but hasn’t heard from her since.
Dawn went to visit Stewart the following day but she wasn’t there.
“I said, ‘Okay, well, she has classes on tomorrow. So she’ll go to class,’ and she’s a residential assistant. So I said, ‘She has desk duty. She’s gonna make it to the duty.’ I got ready for work the next morning. And she hadn’t called us,” her mother said.
She then called the school to see if she was in her dorm or in class but officials said she wasn’t there.
According to an incident report obtained by News4JAX, EWU security said Stewart hadn’t been seen on campus since Thursday after a bad breakup with her girlfriend.
The ex-girlfriend is also assisting with the search and said she last saw Stewart get into a white van in front of the dorms on Saturday, the report said. The ex-girlfriend said it appeared that Stewart got into the van willingly.
The family has growing concerns, especially since Stewart suffers from seizures and takes daily medication for it, the report said.
“As long as she’s taking her medicine on her regular schedule, she’s fine. But when she doesn’t, she’s gonna have a seizure and she loses memory so she might be confused to where she’s at,” Dawn said.
Stewart is 5 foot 1 inches and weighs 110 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt and also has natural dyed honey-blonde hair.
If you know of her whereabouts or have seen her, call JSO at 904-630-0500 or Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
Stewart’s parents are begging for her return.
“Just come home, baby. We love you. It doesn’t matter what was happening. It does not matter. Just come home. Call me, I will come get you,” her mother pleaded.
