This marks at least the fifth time a driver has been shot at on the First Coast over the past two months
JACKSONVILLE, Fla — A shooting and crash has left one man dead and police searching for answers on Jacksonville’s southside. Police say someone fired shots into the car around 1am Monday on Southside Blvd. near JTB. Officers on scene tell First Coast News that at least 8 people heard the gunshots and called police. No suspect information was immediately available.
This is at least the fifth time shots have been fired into a moving vehicle on the First Coast over the past two months. In mid-August, two men were shot in a car driving on Southside Blvd. north of Baymeadows Road. That same month, a driver was shot on I-95 near Zoo Parkway.
Last week, shots were fired into a car on southbound I-95 in St. Johns County. Over the weekend, at least seven shots were fired into a car on I-295 near the St. Johns Town Center.
First Coast News asked police if Monday’s shooting is connected to any of these other shootings. One officer told us it’s too early in the investigation to know for sure.
