Georgia voters now have nearly three weeks to cast an in-person ballot for the state’s presidential primaries, ahead of the March 12 election.
Early voting began Monday in all of Georgia’s counties and will continue over the next three weeks. Counties are required to offer early voting on at least two Saturdays, and some counties may offer early voting on Sundays. You must bring one of the seven accepted forms of identification to vote.
In addition to early voting, registered voters in Georgia can still request an absentee ballot through March 1. You can access the absentee ballot application on the Georgia Secretary of State’s website.
The deadline to register to vote in the presidential primary was Feb. 12. Georgia does not register votes by party, so voters may choose to vote in either the Democratic or Republican primary, but they cannot vote in both.
In the Democratic primary, voters can choose between President Joe Biden and Dean Phillips. Though Marianne Williamson suspended her campaign, her name will still appear on ballots. The Republican primary ballot features nearly a dozen names, including former president Donald Trump and Nikki Haley, as well as candidates who suspended their campaigns, such as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
During early voting, registered voters can vote at any location in their county. On Election Day (March 12) voters who have not yet voted can only cast a ballot at their designated polling place, during the voting hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
