Gator Bowl Charities host Pop Warner City Championship EverBank

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — There was some hard-hitting action Sunday at Everbank Stadium despite the Jaguars being on the road. 

Ten football teams and cheer squads representing more than 275 local youth from select age groups and divisions participated throughout the day to be crowned the City Champion.

Each city champion team participant received a commemorative Little Gator Bowl ring. It was also an opportunity for the participants to play on the same field as our Jacksonville Jaguars.

“We have an opportunity, a unique opportunity to catch them while they are young and teach them some skills. Being on time, coming to practice even when you don’t want to,” said Coach Eric Wesley. ”Successful people do what they need to whether they want to or not. That’s what we’re trying to teach them, how to be successful on the football field as well as in the classroom.
