Homeland Security leading investigation that triggered heavy police activity on CR 217 in Maxville

MAXVILLE, Fla. – A heavy police presence could be seen Thursday morning on County Road 217 in Maxville.

The north end of the road was shut down just before 6:30 a.m. but cars appeared to be moving through around 8:30 a.m.

Police vehicles lined one side of the road, including multiple crime scene vans, undercover vehicles and SUVs. State troopers and Homeland Security investigators were also at the scene.

News4JAX has been told that Homeland Security is the lead agency on the investigation, but no information has been released yet about what they are investigating.

Crime scene tape could be seen blocking an entryway to a wooded property near a “No Trespassing” sign.
