Illegal firearm confiscated at Raines/Ribault game

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A loaded, illegal firearm was found inside a car in the First Coast High School parking lot during the William M. Raines High School vs. Jean Ribault High School game Saturday, according to an email sent to parents.

The Raines vs. Ribault game was hosted at the First Coast stadium. During the game, a Duval County School Police weapons-detection K-9 alerted to a car.

Officers with the School Police and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office were on the scene.

They searched the car and found an illegal firearm, according to the email.

Police are still investigating.

Sonya Duke-Bolden, a Duval County district spokesperson, said this investigation is not related to a video of a fight between students on social media.
