IMAX operations at the World Golf Village extended until 2024

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – IMAX lovers, rejoice!

IMAX Theater operations at the World Golf Village have been extended until 2024, according to Jess Munroe, Senior Director of Guest Services Operations at IMAX.

It was announced earlier this year that the World Golf Hall of Fame IMAX theater located in St. Augustine would be shutting its doors Sept. 2.

Munroe told News4JAX on Thursday that operations have been extended to Jan. 31, 2024.

“We are also encouraging guests to visit our website or social media pages for updates on operations, including currently playing and upcoming movies/show schedules,” Munroe said.

Though it’s unclear what prompted this stay of execution, the citizens of St. Johns County are sure to be overjoyed with the news.

Currently, there’s a special showing of the Christmas classic The Polar Express playing, as well as the new movie Wonka and soon the latest Aquaman movie The Lost Kingdom.

Described as the “ultimate movie experience”, the IMAX theater screen is 80 feet wide and 50 feet tall with powerful digital sound and clear images.

Currently, the discussion on the property is about turning it into a museum, offices, or maybe a hotel. Murray Bros. Caddyshack will remain open for the foreseeable future.
