JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A local contractor has received a $3.5 million permit to begin construction of a cafe space at Riverfront Plaza.

The Haskell Company was issued the permit to build a 5,141-square-foot cafe on Tuesday. Sitting on 7.5 acres, it’s another piece of the new Riverfront Plaza that is replacing the Jacksonville Landing, which was demolished in 2019.

Phase 1 is expected to be completed in 2025. Independent Drive will still be open and the water taxi will be operational.
