Waters released the body camera footage of an arrest that was recorded by bystanders and went viral Friday.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters addressed the public on the arrest of 24-year-old Le’Keian Woods Monday.
The arrest was recorded and the video went viral, bringing calls for justice from the community and Woods’ family.
The arrest report for Woods says officers struck him 17 times.
Waters claims a clip circulating showing Woods being kicked was “altered.”
However, other footage of Woods also garnered attention on social media, which did not show kicking.
Waters released body camera footage to give “context” to the footage circulating.
It is difficult to see Woods in most of the video. He can be seen running from police, while the officer shouts, “you’re f*cked, you’re f*cked” at him.
He is tased once and does not go down, but collapses the second time. Waters says this is when he hit his face on the ground.
Woods continues to move. At one point, he rolls over and his face can be seen covered in blood.
As other officers rush to aid in the arrest, the officer wearing the camera says, “He’s still fighting.”
