JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The city of Jacksonville’s new “Mayor’s Transparency Dashboards” include information on everything from permits and Public Works projects to literacy.
There are currently four dashboards available on the city’s website.
Animal Care and Protective Services
You can see that shelter occupancy has been on a constant decline since August, when 491 animals were being housed.
Right now, the shelter has about 375 animals.
Permitting
The dashboard shows most permits issued in the last year were for single family housing.
This includes duplexes and townhouses.
So, if you’ve been driving around town and thinking there’s a lot of apartments being built but no homes — well, the data doesn’t support that.
Public Works
You can see just how often the city is working to keep roads drivable.
Data shows that Public Works has resurfaced more than 85 miles of roads in the last 12 months. This slows down during the hot summer months.
River City Readers
This is a program the Mayor launched to increase public safety by improving literacy rates in Jacksonville.
It’s been online since the beginning of the year and last month saw the highest reading totals.
