JSO: Man found fatally shot inside of car on Normandy Boulevard

A citizen found the man dead inside of a car in a ditch in the 10700 block of Normandy Boulevard Sunday night.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was found shot dead inside of a car in a ditch on Jacksonville’s Westside Sunday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

At around 8:30 p.m., JSO says a citizen located the vehicle in a ditch in the 10700 block of Normandy Boulevard. When the citizen went to check the vehicle, they noticed the vehicle had been struck by gunfire and that the driver was still inside, according to police. The citizen then called 911, police say.

When officers and first responders with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded to the scene, the man whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead, according to JSO.

“At this time, all we know is that the victim was in the 10700 block of Normandy Blvd. when he was struck by gunfire and crashed into a ditch,” JSO said. “We do not know the circumstances of the incident or the relationships of those involved. Because of this, the classification of the incident is pending.”

JSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene units are currently working alongside the Medical Examiner’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office on the active investigation.
