JSO: Search underway for man who stole from Oakleaf Town Center

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man accused of stealing money and items from an Oakleaf Town Center store, according to a news release.

JSO says the man entered a business in the area and “acted as if he were going to purchase items.” Upon approaching the store employee at the register, the man reached into his backpack as if to retrieve a form of payment, the release states.

Rather than presenting payment, the release states that the man motioned as if he had a firearm in his backpack and demanded money from the employee.

The sheriff’s office says the man took money from the drawers at the register along with items from the store, and fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Anyone with information on the identity of the man is asked to contact JSO at 904-630-0500 or to remain anonymous and be eligible for a possible reward of up to $3,000, call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS or dial **TIPS from a mobile device.
