The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says officers responded to the 13000 block of Macapa Road at approximately 11:15 p.m. Tuesday.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — One man is dead and another man was hospitalized after police responded to an “altercation” near Patton Park in Jacksonville Tuesday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
JSO’s Sergeant Reed says at approximately 11:15 p.m., officers responded to the 13000 block of Macapa Road in reference to “reports of an altercation with injuries.” When officers arrived, Reed says one man was suffering from non-life-threatening injuries and when first responders with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded, he was then taken to a local hospital.
Reed says officers then found another man inside of a nearby home, who “appeared to be suffering from injuries.” Police say the man was pronounced dead on scene, as no one else was located in the home.
JSO says detectives as well as the State Attorney, responded to the scene to conduct an investigation. Detectives were also canvassing the area for witnesses and surveillance video, according to Reed.
