The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says it’s possible that they’re looking for two suspects in this shooting as two different sized shell casings were found on scene.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is currently recovering at a local hospital after he was shot in the chest and neck in Northwest Jacksonville early Friday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
JSO’s Sergeant Richardson says at approximately 2 a.m., officers responded to the 7200 block of Ken Knight Drive West in reference to a man who was shot. When officers arrived, Richardson says the unidentified man in his early-60s was taken to the hospital in critical but stable condition.
JSO says their preliminary investigation reveals that the man was standing outside of his home when “an unknown suspect or suspects fired multiple shots in his direction.”
The sheriff’s office does not have any suspect information to provide at this time, according to Richardson. However, Richardson says it is possible that JSO is looking for two suspects because two different sized shell casings were found at the scene. He also told First Coast News that detectives were on scene canvassing the area for video surveillance and spoke with witnesses.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500 or to remain anonymous and be eligible for a possible cash reward, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
