Motorcyclist dies in traffic accident on Kernan Boulevard

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The 39th traffic fatality happened on Monday night after a motorcyclist crashed into a sports utility vehicle on Kernan Boulevard, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO said around 8 p.m. a motorcyclist was driving north on Kernan Boulevard as an Acura SUV was traveling south on the same street. The SUV made a left turn on Ashley Melisse Boulevard, and the motorcyclist hit the SUV’s passenger side, according to JSO.

The motorcycle driver died on the scene. The SUV driver remained on the scene to cooperate with detectives.

JSO said there were no signs of driver impairment.

This makes the 5th traffic fatality involving a motorcyclist this year.
