Pedestrian hit by SUV, killed on Atlantic Boulevard Friday night

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A pedestrian was killed after being struck by an SUV on Atlantic Boulevard Friday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Police said the pedestrian was hit by a midsized SUV that was traveling westbound in the left lane on Atlantic Boulevard, near the intersection with Aderhold Avenue, at around 9:30 p.m.

First responders pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.

According to police, the driver of the SUV stopped and is cooperating with detectives. There are no indications of impairment.

This is the third traffic fatality in Duval County this year.
