JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — A sailboat washed ashore at Jacksonville Beach around 4 p.m. on Monday, the U.S. Coast Guard said.
The person who was on board the ship safely made it to shore with a paddle board before the Coast Guard arrived at the scene.
Larry Vignola, who is staying at the Hampton Inn, told First Coast News that he spotted the vessel at around 5 p.m. and it settled around 5:15 p.m.
Vignola said he had a clear view of the beached vessel from his window.
It’s unclear what caused the vessel to become disabled and wash ashore.
The Coast Guard said it is the owner’s responsibility to remove the ship.
