ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Starting next weekend will see three consecutive weekend closures of the Shands Bridge planned to allow for grating replacement.
According to the FDOT, bridge closures are planned during the following times, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting:
During the closures, traffic will detour via State Road 13, I-295 and U.S. 17. State Road 16 on either side of the bridge will remain open to local traffic only.
Commuters are asked to take the Buckman Bridge.
The bridge will be completely rebuilt as part of the First Coast Expressway. The $595 million project started early last year and is expected to finish by 2030.
