Florida Highway Patrol says three juveniles are in custody after stealing a vehicle and leading troopers on a pursuit on Jacksonville’s Westside Tuesday.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Three juveniles are in custody after stealing a vehicle and leading Florida Highway Patrol troopers on a pursuit on Jacksonville’s Westside Tuesday, according to FHP.
Surveillance video from Auto Fix 4 Less points towards the intersection of Edgewood Ave North and West Beaver Street.
At around 1:34pm Tuesday, a white car is captured on video driving north on Edgewood Avenue at a high rate of speed before quickly making a right turn on West Beaver Street into traffic.
A semi-truck gets in the way of what happens next but the white car crashes and hits two cars, according to witnesses. With lights and sirens, Florida Highway Patrol troopers and Jacksonville Sheriff’s Officers follow close behind. Witnesses say they saw three young girls get out of a white car and attempt to run after the crash but were stopped by officers.
FHP says it got a report for a stolen vehicle and troopers attempted to stop the car when the crash occurred. FHP says all three suspects are juveniles. Their ages are not known.
FHP says one person in another vehicle hit was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Nearby business say they were not impacted, but a tire mark in front of First Coast Auto Sales on West Beaver Street is what was left of the scene Tuesday afternoon.
It is not known how or where the car was stolen. First Coast News reached out for more information and are waiting to hear back.
