THE ANSWER

No, viral TikTok does not show father confront son’s killer. Instead, it shows Tristyn Bailey’s.

WHAT WE FOUND

The TikTok doesn’t provide the right context behind the post; it takes two separate videos from two separate court cases and meshes them together.

The boy seen in the top video of the TikTok is Aiden. First Coast News was in court on the day Aiden got emotional while his grandmother gave her testimony during his sentencing. Watch that moment which happened on March 22, 2023 in the first YouTube video below, or click here.

Aiden was sentenced to life in prison on Friday, March 24, 2023 for the murder of Tristyn in May 2021. He was 14 when he stabbed his classmate 114 times. Therefore, the TikTok gives a false perception of the father confronting his son’s killer.

“She suffered a painful, horrifying death from someone she trusted,” Judge R. Lee Smith said before he delivered Aiden’s sentence. The judge was visibly emotional.

Because the TikTok shows two separate videos taken from two separate court cases, the other court case where the father is seen in the TikTok post having an outburst in court, is related to the murder trial of Lukace Kendle for the shooting of his son, Kijuan Byrd, according to The Center for Investigative Reporting.

Byrd’s father, Donald, was escorted out of the courtroom after he had an outburst while a court session was ongoing, where Kendle was listening to statements from the judge on April 4, 2014, according to The Center for Investigative Reporting.
