The spokesperson told First Coast News that a carnival worker was injured while performing maintenance on a ride and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Officials with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department confirmed that one person was taken to the hospital from the fair Saturday afternoon with life-threatening injuries.
The fair spokesperson did not provide details when First Coast News asked about how the worker was injured, what ride they were working on, whether if the ride was out of service at some point nor if the ride will be operated Sunday. The incident is under review, fair officials say.
