Multiple lanes closed on Loretto Rd.
Multiple lanes on Loretto Road are closed at the intersection of Old St. Augustine Road as crews work to fix a water main break Thursday morning.
Loretto Road is now reduced to one lane in each direction. Commuters can expect the lanes to remain closed until about 3 p.m. this afternoon, according to a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office news release.
St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and a Diocese of St. Augustine building are located at that intersection, and heavy delays are expected. Mandarin High School is also nearby so, prepare for heavy traffic as school commutes begin shortly.
JEA tells First Coast News that their crews first responded to a leaking water main last night, describing the leak as 6″ wide and located more than a dozen feet beneath Loretto Road.
After pipe repairs are complete, JEA says road repairs will take “most of the day,” but an additional travel lane will open by 8 a.m.
