JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is dead after a single-vehicle motorcycle crash near the intersection of Park Street and Lane Avenue.
Two motorcycles were heading north on Lane Avenue. The motorcycle in the outside lane, driven by a man in his mid-40s, ran off the road to the east and struck a curb, JSO said.
The man was injured severely, according to JSO. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene. A helmet was found at the scene, though officials are still investigating.
Lane Avenue was blocked for another hour while detectives collected evidence.
This is the third traffic fatality involving a motorcycle this year. There were four fatalities at this time last year.
